THIS WEEK I LEARNED

October 19, 2025

Children's Ministry at WPC

We want each child to know they are loved, valued and safe in our ministry. One of the ways we do this is by following our group promises. Please take time to review it with your child before class so that they understand the expectations. We will:
  • Listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to share
  • Keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves
  • Use calm, walking feet to move around the room
  • Use kind and encouraging words
  • Follow directions and make safe choices

NURSERY & GODLY PLAY

Both our Nursery and Godly Play classes will be hearing the story of Jacob this week. Together, the children will discover how God was with Jacob wherever he went and how God’s love and promises continue through every generation. They’ll explore themes of blessing, family, and how God can work through all kinds of people and situations. At dinner or bedtime this week, ask: When have you felt close to God? When have you needed to be reminded that God is still with you?

CHAPEL

Today, the children are learning about being part of God’s big family and sharing their gifts in the church. They are preparing to help lead Children’s Sunday on November 2, including singing and other roles in the service.
If your child cannot attend please let us know so we can adjust assignments. We will confirm participation with you.

MUSIC

During music time, the children began learning their new song for Children’s Sunday! We can’t wait for you to hear them sing and lead in worship on November 2.

Sensory Friendly Worship

In our Sensory Friendly service this week, we’re exploring Joshua 7, the story of Achan and the hidden treasure. Together, we’ll wonder about what it means to tell the truth, to make things right when we’ve made a mistake, and to remember that God’s love doesn’t disappear when we do something wrong. Children will have hands-on ways to explore the story including making a family “camp,” hiding and finding a treasure.
Next Sunday is Reformation Sunday, we will be streaming the full service during the Sensory Friendly service.

To make that possible, we depend on a team of caring adults who help with storytelling, greeting, and creating a welcoming environment. Please reach out to Heather to learn more about how you can help

  • For your children to attend chapel you must sign your children in for chapel each week at the new kiosk. (located next to the worship bags) This lets us know who will be attending and a way to contact you if needed.
