What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Beliefs

Westminster is a Christian community in the Presbyterian tradition. Presbyterians hold a conviction that humans have been experiencing and loving God since the dawn of time, and that, throughout the years, certain things have proven over and over to be good, beautiful, and true.

The most central claim we make is that God in Christ is creating, redeeming, sustaining, ruling, and transforming all things and all people in the freedom of an all-encompassing righteousness and love.

We believe we’ve been called and created by God to work for the reconciliation of the world.

We believe we cannot be disciples of Jesus by ourselves, so we work hard to live and work together based on what we learn from the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

We believe everything we are and everything we have is from God, so we use whatever gifts we’ve been given to serve the world, not make ourselves look good.

We believe humans tend to trust in lots of things instead of God, and that, more often than not, we take advantage of and bully each other. Because of this, we feel called to work for the transformation of society so life on Earth can be as sweet as it is in Heaven.
